Caledonian’s recently-launched black lager Dark Light is the latest example of the 150-year-old Scottish brewery’s innovative new craft beers but what’s next for Wee George, the pilot brewery that produced the liquid?

Despite being just over a year old, Wee George has produced four new craft beers, including Coast to Coast, Rare Red, Three Hop and now Dark Light, managing director Andy Maddock told The Morning Advertiser in this exclusive video.

He said: “From a change perspective to the business there are two things: we’ve launched Coast to Coast as one of the first beers to come out of Wee George and then we recently launched our rye ale Rare Red."

‘Challenging ourselves’

Maddock continued: "Bringing in two innovation brewers has really changed the dynamic of the brewery for the better and starting it's to really enable us to challenge ourselves around what we’re doing, how we’re doing it and what ingredients we use.”

Watch this video to hear what else will be coming from Wee George in the future.

Meanwhile, read the 3 October issue of The Morning Advertiser for a feature on the Caledonian Brewery, the beers that have come out of Wee George and what Maddock has planned next.
