The Scottish distillery has released the latest product in its limited-edition Wood Finish range, Benromach Hermitage 2007.

The Benromach Distillery Company created the whisky, which it describes as having 'aromas of summer fruits along with lemon and lime', with an ABV strength of 45%. The taste is sweet and fruity with dark cherry and orange flavours combined with milk chocolate 'to create a gentle smoky edge'.

After maturing in bourbon barrels for six years, the whisky was transferred to oak casks that once nurtured wine from the Hermitage Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée, in the northern Rhône region of France, and finished for 31 months.

Finishing

Distillery manager Keith Cruickshank said: “At Benromach we work with some of the world’s most exclusive wineries to carefully select casks for finishing.

“The Benromach Hermitage 2007 is the latest release from our Wood Finishes range, which give our customers the opportunity to experience classic Benromach with a twist. This Benromach dram is a delicious offering for whisky aficionados and those looking to try something new.”

The whisky is handcrafted using natural ingredients at the distillery and since the site at Forres, Morayshire, was brought back to life 18 years ago, the team at Benromach have developed “a core range of single malts with the classic pre-1960s Speyside character, and has added a range of exciting expressions, including the first certified organic whisky and a heritage range”.

Purchasing

With a price tag of £40.25, Benromach Hermitage 2007 can be purchased at specialist whisky retailers. Prices may vary due to duty and import taxes.
