Pubs took to social media to showcase the vegetarian fare available on their menus, throughout National Vegetarian Week (15 to 22 May).

This month, veggies and pubs alike are celebrated National Vegetarian Week by showcasing what meat-free options are on offer in the on-trade.

South-east pub group Whiting & Hammond served jack fruit with vegan mayonnaise at the Chaser Inn, Tonbridge, Kent, in honour of its meat-free patrons.

The Cricketers Inn, Meopham in Kent, which is also part of the Whiting & Hammond group also unveiled new dishes for the week.

SA Brains pub the Smoking Dog, in Malmesbury, Wiltshire, stocked Sipsmith gin which is 100% vegan.

The Beaufort in Beaufort Park, Colindale, north-west London, made the most of the week by showcasing its spirits and food pairings.

The pub suggested trying a Vodka Martini and goats cheese salad.

The White Horse Inn, Pulverbatch, Shropshire, made its vegetarian menu available from Wednesday (17 May), but offered those who want to eat meat its usual menu.

Family-run pub the Tilbury in Datchworth, Hertfordshire, offered two courses for £17 or three courses for £20 on Wednesday (17 May) and veggie-friendly dishes included dauphinoise potatoes, poached egg, asparagus, broccoli and Hollandaise sauce.

Fuller's pub, the Blue Boat, in Fulham, west London, urged customers to share images of their favourite veggie dishes and recipes.

The Punch Bowl, in York, didn't want to miss out on the vegetable celebrations and showcased its veggie and vegan-friendly options on social media.

Steak and ale house the New Inn, in Harborne, Birmingham, still celebrated National Vegetarian Week, despite the bad weather.

Young's-owned the Wood House, in Dulwich, south London, called on customers through its Instagram page to try its veggie specials.
