The Premier League season will launch on Friday 11 August at 7.45pm with Sky Sports covering new Arsenal signing Alexandre Lacazette’s first competitive game for the Gunners against Leicester.

The match will be the first the time the Premier League season has begun on a Friday night. It will be one of four live games showing on Sky on the opening weekend of the season.

Following the Friday night opener, the Sky cameras will then head to Vicarage Road for the visit of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool to Watford on Saturday 12 August at 12.30pm. And on Super Sunday Sky will cover Newcastle’s return to the Premier League when they take on Tottenham at 1.30pm before screening Manchester United as they host West Ham at Old Trafford at 4pm.

BT Sport’s Premier League coverage begins on the south coast as league debutant’s Brighton & Hove Albion take on Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at the Amex Stadium on Saturday, 12 August.

David Rey, managing director of Sky Business said: “These great fixtures, including huge showdowns like Spurs v Chelsea and Liverpool v Arsenal, are among the first of 126 Premier League games we’ll bring to Sky Sports pubs this season. In the first fortnight alone we’ll show matches featuring all of last year’s top six teams, kicking off with Arsenal on Friday Night Football. The opening weekend promises to be an unmissable three days of football, with some massive names in action, helping landlords to pull in the crowds and drive trade with the games that matter to pubgoers.”

BT Sport commercial customers director Bruce Cuthbert said: “What a fabulous start to the new season with newly promoted Brighton hosting Manchester City on the south coast on the opening day. And by 1 October, BT Sport will feature Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal no less than five times competing in Premier League and European competitions – something that’s guaranteed to pull in the crowds.”
