Pub operators are to receive information kits showcasing the help that is available for pub workers experiencing personal or family problems.

The move by the Licensed Trade Charity (LTC) forms part of a new campaign due to launch on (Wednesday 12 July) and aims to raise awareness around the support the charity provides for those beset by difficulties including illness, housing, relationship problems and debt.
As part of the ‘Time to Open Up’ push, major operators and independent bar chains will receive POS packs containing material that outlines the support on offer, which includes a free helpline, resource website and financial help for those working in the trade and their families.

7,000 used the charity in 2016

The campaign will be supported by PR and social media support.

Last year more than 7,000 people made use of the resources and support provided by the charity, which was established more than 200 years ago.

“Successful operators know that offering additional support to employees, and their families is a strong factor in recruitment and retention,” LTC marketing director Liz Gaffer said.

“As well as the help they offer as employees, many have said that having an independent resource is really useful to them… We know that it’s often not easy to talk about problems, but we hope this new, engaging campaign raises awareness of the help we can offer and gives people the confidence to open up.”
