Oh, the humiliation the shame. And in full view of the world's press. Well, Snifter, anyway. Your diarist was present at, and indeed participated in, a celebrity pub quiz organised by Fuller's at one of the company's City of London outlets, the Counting House in Cornhill. The list of players sounds like a cast from a promising Drury Lane opening night. There was Richard E Grant, Bob Hoskins, Derek Jacobi, and just abouteveryone you've ever heard of in Casualty. But the unexpected star turn was Roger Lloyd Pack, the actor who was the dim-witted Trigger in Only Fools And Horses. Personally, Snifter believes he was only trying to play to type, but poor old Roger's team actually fluffed a question about the long-running comedy show that brought him to the nation's attention. He didn't know the name of Boycie and Marlene's child. (Tyler, for those suffering a similar loss of memory). How we laughed and the fact that it was all in an excellent cause the National Deaf Children's Society made it an even more worthwhile way to spend an evening. Full marks particularly go to the brand team at London Pride, which sponsored the quiz, and to the irrepressible Georgina Wald, Fuller's public relations manager. As she remarked during the half-time nosh break: "I've never stood in a celebrity buffet queue before!" For the record, the winning team in a keenly-fought contest was the Walking Wounded past and present cast of Casualty. Naturally, the Fuller's team, with Snifter as guest quizzer, was not allowed to win. At least, that'sour excuse.
