Westons Cider is giving 12 pubs the chance to bag a year’s worth of Stowford Press as part of a £150,000 investment in a bid to boost the hospitality sector.

Cider brand Stowford Press is offering the opportunity to its pub and bar partners as the industry battles challenges including rising inflation rates, the cost-of-living crisis and staffing shortages.

The competition will run throughout autumn and winter with the winners selected at random from an online draw.

The 12 winning venues will each receive a year’s worth of Stowford Press Apple or Dark Berry with an added 12 venues receiving five free kegs.

Westons Cider head of marketing Sally McKinnon said: “With ongoing staff shortages framed by the cost-of-living crisis, we wanted to show our support with our biggest ever giveaway to the on-trade."

How to enter

She added: “A staple on the bar, Stowford Press is a star performer in the on-trade with sales growing enormously in the last year to over £100M. Our timeless Apple cider has always been a consumer favourite, and the recent launch of our Dark Berry variant earlier this year has already gathered momentum.”

To be in with a chance of winning, pubs are required to buy three 50L kegs of Stowford Press Apple or Dark Berry before 29 February 2024 and enter via the designated URL on the Westons website.

New stockists through Westons’ supplier partners will be eligible and pubs even have the opportunity to submit multiple entries to increase their chances of success.

Cider success

Earlier this year, The Morning Advertiser looked into how pubs could tap into the cider market.

Leigh Damerell, manager at the Railway Inn, Sandford, advised: “There are many ways to introduce customers to our ciders.

“We suggest cider pairings for our restaurant menu and our chef incorporates cider into a lot of dishes. We keep coming up with new ideas which means the menu stays fresh and seasonal, and that’s what people love.

“From our experience it’s important to stay relevant, know the demographic of your customers, and cater for them with a cider range that suits them.”
