There were no new Michelin stars awarded to pubs in the latest guide.

Britain’s best restaurants listed in the Michelin Guide 2023 were announced yesterday (5 February).

This year’s Michelin Guide Ceremony for Great Britain & Ireland took place at the Midland Hotel in Manchester.

This year, a new three star restaurant was unveiled as well as six new two stars, with 18 restaurants awarded one Michelin star.

Five pubs were awarded Bib Gourmands in the guide. These were the Bull in Charlbury, the Cotswolds, the Loch & Tyne, Old Windsor, Berkshire, the Clifton, Bristol, the Reindeer, Hoveringham, Nottinghamshire, and the Three Horseshoes, Fordham, Cambridgeshire.

The Bull is a 16th century venue run by the team from London’s restaurant the Pelican. It’s celebrated by The Michelin Guide as a “hugely characterful place”. Dishes have an “understated simplicity, but not at the expense of flavour,” the Guide adds.

The Loch & The Tyne is part of Adam Handling’s portfolio and offers re-worked, traditionally based dishes that represent good value.

It was also named the ‘Best Pub for Food’ at the 2023 Great British Pub Awards.

The Clifton serves “rustic, generous dishes,” according to The Michelin Guide, including some cooked over an open fire, and the Reindeer offers pub favourites like fish & chips and venison pie.

At the Three Horseshoes, dishes are “carefully prepared and attractively presented,” the Guide adds.
